Summary[]

Grandpa Chen scolds Ating for hitting her teacher. Nuo stands up for Ating and blames himself for not stopping her punch in time. However, Grandpa Chen lectures Ating and tells her that he did not teach her martial arts to beat people and says she has to settle down and study. As Zhao Liu serves everyone a meal, she remarks that Ating is still young and will become more sensible with age. Grandpa Chen replies that he hopes he will be around to see it, which causes Ating to suddenly cling to Grandpa Chen and tells him that he promised to be with her forever. Zhao Liu comforts Ating and reveals to her that she has a gift that she will give after they finish their meal. Later on during the day, Zhao Liu shows a piece of wood to Grandpa Chen. Zhao Liu says that she thought it would be suitable for carving a new wooden sword for Ating. She explains that her grandfather found the piece of wood while gathering herbs and that it is lightning-struck wood. In awe, Ating happily embraces the piece of wood.

Six months pass by. Grandpa Chen carves the piece of wood while Ating sleeps nearby. He remarks that the wood is more and more difficult to carve over time and that it has broken a few knives. He hopes that the resulting wooden sword will last Ating several years. Ating begins reciting poetry in her sleep. Zhao Liu suggest to Grandpa Chen to bring her to bed, but Nuo tells his mother that she studies in her dreams, much to the confusion of Zhao Liu. Grandpa Chen asks Zhao Liu if Baili Ji is from the village. She reveals to Grandpa Chen that the villager's hunters found him on death's door after being attacked by mountain bandits. His injuries were far too severe so the villager's let him stay to allow him to recover, however his weak constitution hasn't allowed to recover enough. Nuo tells Grandpa Chen that Baili Ji wishes to fully recover before leaving and that his family are much scarier than mountain bandits.

As Ating continues to recipe poetry in her sleep, Qu Chen corrects her recitations as he can see her in his spiritual sea. After a few breaths, Qu Chen exits his spiritual sea. In Penglai, he uses a spell to open a door and walk outside into the snowy garden. Looking onto the peaks of Penglai, he wonders when his master will return from seclusion.
